Yes, you can easily move GoFiler between as many computers as you wish. However, you cannot use GoFiler on more computers than the number of licenses you own. In other words, a user who owns one license of GoFiler could move the software between a desktop workstation and a laptop but cannot use GoFiler on both the desktop computer and laptop at the same time.
To move a software key, it must first be unregistered on one computer. The installer may have already created the shortcut to unregister GoFiler in the Start Menu. If you created the unregister shortcut, you can just choose that menu item from the Start Menu, and the software will be unregistered.
If the installer did not create the unregister shorcut or if you cannot locate it in the Start Menu, follow the steps below to unregister a key manually.
- Browse to GoFiler's installation directory in Windows Explorer. This is usually C:\Program Files\GoFiler.
- Right-click on GoFiler.exe and drag it to the desktop. When the mouse button is released, a pop-up menu will appear. Choose "Create shortcuts here".
- Rename the shortcut to "Unregister GoFiler".
- Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties from the menu.
- In the Target area, add the text "/unregister" with no quotes. The new target should appear as follows:
"[installation dir]\GoFiler.exe" /unregister
Be sure that there is a space between the end of the target text and the /unregister. - Press the OK button.
- When you wish to unregister GoFiler from your computer, double-click the shortcut.
This does not uninstall GoFiler. GoFiler can be re-registered on the computer by using the normal application link. GoFiler will attempt to re-register using the key previously associated with it when it is run on the computer. If the attempt is unsuccessful, a dialog box will appear in which you can enter a different software key.
GoFiler must be unregistered from the first computer before it is run on a second computer. To run it on the second computer, simply install the software and use your software key to register it. Follow the above instructions to unregister the software when you are done.
If you want to run GoFiler on two different computers at the same time, you must buy a second software key.
